Camp Quarantine

Brynnly has been wanting to camp in the backyard for over a week.  I asked her to please hold off until it warms up a bit and that took us to tonight.  It really was the perfect day to do it because it got up to about 90 degrees today and it was TOO HOT to sleep upstairs in our bedrooms anyway; you know I ain't even turning the air conditioning on in April!
So first thing this morning we got the tent out and Brynnly helped stake it down, with a little tutorial on hammering from Ryan.

Brynnly had a whole list of activities for us to do, we went on a bear hunt where she hid stuffed bears all around the house!  She had us play twister and go on a scavenger hunt.  She is so FUN and creative.  I love how she loves planning things and thinks about so many details.

I made hot dogs buns from my sourdough starter which actually turned out to be more of sourdough rolls.  Lauren really liked them, but everyone else is breaded out!  Too much of the good stuff lately.

Speaking of good stuff...we ate this as soon as I got it frosted.
Chocolate cake from scratch, again using the starter!

When the sun set we played a little Quixx and roasted marshmallows.
I read a couple ghost stories that ended up leaving a much stronger impression than I anticipated.  Whoops!  Lauren was pretty freaked out, she told me later.

The tent was very cozy and it had cooled off considerably.
Sweet Dreams, my AWESOME wonderful, fantastically FUN Family!!!

Our 1st time out of the house

I have been holding off for over a month on ordering ANY food from a restaurant.
People are doing it constantly and I finally gave in.
Tonight we surprised the kids with a drive thru trip to In-N-Out!
It was GLORIOUS!!!

Such a good call.
We were all so happy and it just felt like NORMAL life for a brief moment.

The drive thru line actually wrapped around the parking lot since nobody can go inside and it took 32 minutes...that wasn't normal, but it was all part of the experience.

THIS may have been the best thing we did/do in quarantine!
We put on a family Lip Sync and held it live on Instagram.
Like 4 people watched, but we didn't care because we really did it for each other!
It was OUT OF SIGHT!
We each picked a song, dressed up like the artist, and gave our performance of a life time!
I LOVE MY FAMILY SOMUCH!!!!
WE ARE THE BEST!!!

Brynnly: The Greatest Showman
"The Greatest Show"
Brynnly actually inspired this night with an incredible impromptu lip sync she did for Lauren in the back yard the other night to "We Built This City" by Jefferson Starship.  Also it was adorable that she said this song was by, "Starship"...she's just the cutest.  She's still our littlest, our baby, and every little thing she does that is still so much litter than the others is so cute.  Plus her BIG personality totally adds so much to our family, she's a LOT, and it is wonderful!
She wasn't sure which song she'd do.  She was going with a slow one at first and refused to do the We Built This City.  So Lauren looked through old costumes and when we found this one Lauren knew right away she could get Brynnly to do the Greatest Showman.  She was right...Brynnly was PUMPED!  She loves that movie so this was perfect.
She closed the show and it was incredibly perfect. She is soooo good at performing.

Our Big FEEL Moments...

Egg Hunt

Egg hunts are always a highlight of our Easter traditions.  I did a good one all around the outside of the house this year.  I filled the eggs with candy and money.  Brynnly found the least, but she found the ones with dollars so she came out the biggest winner.

Way to hustle!
Quarantine life isn't stopping us one bit from having fun.

Homeschooling

Legit it does not get funnier than this.
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF HOMESCHOOL
I told the kids we always take first day of school pictures, so dress up like homeschool kids and we'll take a picture.  They brought their A-Game!
I was dying dead laughing!!!

Homeschool has begun with a slow roll out so everyone can get used to using the online tools.
We made sure all the kids each had their own space and computer.
How blessed are we to have the space and the technology to make this happen?
We made Brynnly a corner in the front living room. She wasn't thrilled about this at first, but it has really suited her.

This first week back Brentwood Elementary did a "spirit week" and this day was Disney Day!
We got that covered EASY.

We are spending A LOT of time at the park..we mixed it up and walked to a different park the other day.
The girls play a volley ball game that Julia throws the ball and they chase after it.
Baylor and I toss the football back and forth.  He as taught me a few plays.
We are trying to be active.  Exercising at the park, taking walks, even going on a mile run now and then.  We did one day of 21 Day Fix and were SORE!  That ended that! The next time I tried it I pulled a muscle! No thank you.

Ryan's work had a "bring your kids to Zoom day". So funny.  Everyone checked in and introduced their kids.  The kids liked representing with their dad.
I think once the kids find a groove everything will be great.

Coronavirus Pandemic

This was the last thing we did before literally our whole world shut down.
Even going on this simple GATE Field Trip to a private airport seemed a little reckless.
This was Friday before Spring Break, it ended up being the last day of this 2019-2020 school year. We had no idea at this moment.
I do remember already being crazy about using antibacterial soap on our hands and standing away from another parent who coughed.  We were so close to one another though, as you can see.  "Social Distancing" was not even a thing yet.

We climbed into this private jet to see what it was like.  We freely touched everything, even the handrail to get into the plane, we thought nothing of it.
You gave me your best "Kardashian looks". You are literally THE cutest!!!

You were MOST excited to fly this simulator.
I am so glad you had such a fun day.
It is crazy it ended up being your last day in public 4th grade.

SHOTS For Our Trip

Are we still going to England???!  I HOPE SO!
I am pretty resigned to the fact that we won't be going to France.  The Corona Virus outbreak is getting worse there and they border Italy which is REAL REAL bad.  I don't want to risk going to France.  I am taking every precaution and getting the kids every shot they need before we go.
Baylor and Brynnly got Flu shots this morning.
Brynnly was soooo freaked out and cried so hard.  She hates all things medical and especially shots.
I wouldn't let them sit down in the doctors' office and we stood way far away on the other side of the room from other patients, especially ones who came in and put on masks!  Ewww!!
